On November 26, the Gangwon Office of Education and Gangwon Ilbo co-hosted the 2024 Gangwon Artificial Intelligence EdTech International Symposium at the Chuncheon ICT Venture Center in Korea. The keynote address, entitled “From Books to Bots: Lessons Learnt in the Process of Adopting AI in Singapore’s Education System”, was delivered by Jonathan Sim, Assistant Director of Pedagogy at AICET.
He emphasised balancing AI adoption with human empathy and critical thinking, cautioning against over-reliance on technology. Jonathan advocated for educators to be role models in using AI to foster creativity and intrinsic motivation in students while preserving their autonomy in the learning process. The symposium explored AI’s transformative potential in education and its challenges, offering insights into future-ready teaching practices.
