SINGAPORE– Amid escalating concerns over the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the future job market, a significant event was held on October 16, 2025, at Raffles Girls’ School (RGS) to explore new educational directions. Professor Ben Leong of the AI Centre for Educational Technologies (AICET) delivered a timely and compelling presentation titled “Teaching Practical Skills with LLMs”to an audience primarily composed of MOE educators.

The AI Era: Focusing on People, Not Technology
Addressing the widespread apprehension within the educational community that AI is causing job displacement, Professor Leong assertively reiterated his central thesis, urging a necessary paradigm shift among educators. He declared that “The effective adoption of AI is fundamentally a people problem, not a technology problem.”He further stressed that as AI automates more and more tasks, the educational focus must pivot sharply toward instructing crucial “human skills.”
Experiencing Innovation: The MOE Chatbot Demonstration
Following the theoretical emphasis on human skills, Sook Mun, Leader of AICET’s Pedagogy Team, provided a powerful demonstration. She personally showcased the innovative MOE Parent Roleplaying Chatbot, serving as a critical ‘trigger’ that successfully captivated the attending teachers and generated strong, positive endorsement.
This session marked a vital starting point for educators to acquire the skills necessary to guide students in leveraging AI for tasks they “don’t want to do,”rather than those they “cannot do.”This momentum paves the way for a transition in classrooms where AI is utilized not merely as a tool, but as a catalyst for fundamentally enhancing human competencies.

RGS Shares Local Implementation: Enhancing Human Skills with AI
Following Ms. Sook Mun’s demonstration, RGS teacher Siao Hua Wang shared the school’s local implementation journey, supported by AICET. She highlighted RGS’s efforts under two key themes:
· Using AI to Enhance Human skills
· The RGS Executive Functioning Skills (EFS) Chatbot
Ms. Wang and the RGS faculty expressed their hope that these dedicated educational initiatives would empower students to strengthen their own capabilities and ultimately succeed in bridging the potential “AI Chasm of Death.” The day’s lecture and case sharing marked a significant milestone in redefining the direction of education in preparation for the AI age.
