On 30 Apr 2026, AICET had the honour of hosting a distinguished four-member delegation, facilitated by the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF). The visit was centered around Pengiran Hafidzah, the spouse of the Commander of Royal Brunei Land Forces, who is currently pursuing a PhD in Artificial Intelligence with a focus on educational applications. Her academic background provided a profound lens to the session, fostering a high-level exchange on the future of AI-enabled pedagogy.
A Glimpse into the Future: The AI Coaching Demo
A key highlight of the visit was an immersive presentation by Prof Ben Leong, who showcased the transformative potential of generative AI in professional development. Moving beyond theoretical concepts, Prof Ben Leong provided a live demonstration of a specialized AI chatbot designed to facilitate manager-subordinate consultations.
The delegation observed in real-time as AICET’s AI-powered learning platform, ScholAIstic, provided nuanced, instantaneous coaching, guiding the flow of communication and offering constructive feedback. The session culminated in a comprehensive digital summary and evaluation displayed on-screen, which vividly illustrated how AI can serve as a scalable, practical mentor. This demonstration offered a clear vision of how generative models can be bridged from laboratory settings to real-world applications.
Reaffirming ‘Human-Centred Education’

While the technology was impressive, the discussion shifted toward the ethical and systemic challenges of digital adoption. Addressing the common anxieties surrounding AI in the classroom and workplace, Prof Ben Leong offered a pivotal perspective that resonated deeply with the delegation. He asserted: “Tech problems are easy. The hard problems are the people problems”, a powerful reminder that while AI can augment capabilities, the educator’s role and human intuition must remain the foundational core of any educational progress.
The visit concluded with a series of thought-provoking dialogues that enriched collective understanding of AI-driven learning. These exchanges marked an important step forward, offering valuable momentum for ongoing efforts to integrate AI effectively and responsibly into education.
