AI Workshop at Raffles Girls’ School

On November 8, 2024, the AICET Pedagogy Team conducted an engaging and informative workshop for about 140 educators at Raffles Girls’ School, focusing on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into their teaching and learning practices. The workshop, led by Jonathan Sim, Assistant Director (Pedagogy), provided valuable insights into the transformative potential of AI in classrooms.

Jonathan shared how AI can be used to augment teachers’ abilities and to better support student learning. He showcased the importance of crafting effective prompts for Generative AI tools – namely how well-designed prompts can spark critical thinking in students, and how better prompting skills empower learners to use Generative AI in a productive way for their learning.

The session featured demonstrations of chatbots designed by our student research assistants, with two of them sharing their thought processes behind the chatbot design.

At the end of the workshop, the teachers participated in group discussions to explore how AI could be applied to their subjects and teaching methodologies. Jonathan and his team provided hands-on guidance, shared examples, and offered feedback to help refine the educators’ ideas.

This workshop highlights AICET’s dedication to equipping educators with practical AI skills. By enhancing teaching capabilities and providing educators with advanced AI skills, AICET aims to empower teachers to inspire students and be pathfinders of what education can be with a thoughtful integration of technology.
