AI-X Industry Day Shines a Light on Collaborative Future

AI-X: Industry Day Ignites Industry-Academia Collaboration

NUS Computing, in partnership with IMDA’s Technical Sharing Session, successfully hosted AI-X: Industry Day on November 18, 2025. The event brought together leading figures from industry and academia for a morning of insightful discussions and networking, underscoring a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships and translating cutting-edge AI research into real-world impact.

Key Takeaways

The day kicked off with a Welcome Address by Prof. Tulika Mitra, Dean of NUS’ School of Computing, who reflected on 50 years of computing education at NUS and the institution’s dedication to industry engagement.

A stellar lineup of speakers from industry giants—including Asahi Quality & Innovations, Grab, IBM, Microsoft Research Asia, NVIDIA, and ST Engineering—shared the stage with NUS School of Computing faculty and Presidential Young Professors. Their collective insights highlighted the transformative role of AI across diverse sectors such as technology, mobility, consumer innovation, engineering, climate intelligence, and robotics.

A coherent theme emerged throughout the sessions: The future of AI will be shaped by ecosystems, not silos. This future is powered by generalisable research, real-world problems that challenge existing assumptions, and a robust talent pipeline capable of bridging the gap between both worlds.

Moving Forward

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the speakers, partners, and colleagues who contributed to the success of this gathering. The strong turnout and insightful conversations have set a powerful precedent, and NUS Computing looks forward to sustaining this momentum in future collaborations to shape the global AI landscape.
