On 27 Apr 2026, AICET had the distinct privilege of hosting distinguished delegations from three key organizations: the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), the Digital Ops-Tech Centre (DOTC), and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). We were honored to welcome Vicky Wang, Senior Director of MDDI; James Kwek Wei Chiat, Head of DOTC; and Jeffrey Ng, Head of PiXEL (RSAF Agile innovation Digital’s Partner in Experience & Learning).
Prof Ben Leong gave a presentation that changed our perspective on AI. He shifted the focus from just the technology itself to how we can truly use AI to support teaching and learning. At the heart of his message was a pivotal realisation: innovation in education is not a technology problem; it is a pedagogy problem.
In a landscape flooded with AI tools, Prof Ben Leong emphasised a simple truth: teaching is, above all, about managing motivation.
Our primary objective is not merely to adopt new software, but to harness technology to amplify the human element — the “heart” of teaching.

The session highlighted that the true power of AI lies in its capacity to act as a force multiplier for educators with sound judgment. As Prof Ben Leong illustrated, when combined with human insight, AI serves as a potent amplifier of an educator’s influence, allowing them to connect with more students and maintain high teaching standards, regardless of geographical barriers. Conversely, without that necessary judgment, we risk merely deploying a “slop cannon” of information. By allowing AI to handle repetitive tasks like basic vocabulary or calculation, we clear the way for teachers to focus on the irreducible human qualities: leadership, creativity, and EQ.
There is no room for reactive governance in the face of such rapid technological advancement. At AICET, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure that AI is disseminated and applied with pedagogical integrity. We are committed to taking a proactive role in shaping how AI is implemented across these diverse sectors, fostering an environment where technology serves the learner’s needs above all else.
