On 27 January 2026, AICET was honored to host a delegation of 20 students from South Korea’s Sahmyook University. The visit focused on exploring how AICET has integrated AI policies and frameworks into education, with a specific interest in AI integration within the medical and healthcare fields.
Mr. Jonathan Chen, Deputy Director(Engineering) at AICET, opened the session with an insightful talk on the concept of “Outsourcing Cognition”. He traced the historical evolution of cognitive technological tools—from 1970s calculators to 2020s AI—noting that while technology reduces the need for rote memorization, it significantly expands the demand for higher-level critical thinking.
Throughout the presentation, Mr. Jonathan Chen highlighted the “Error Detector” dilemma, explaining that because most public-facing Large Language Models (LLMs) are optimized for conversation rather than factual accuracy, lay users without domain expertise risk losing their internal “error detector”. The loss of the ability to sense when something seems “off” can make misinformation virtually invisible to undiscerning users. To address this, he shared a strategic golden rule: “Use AI to do what you can already do, not what you cannot do!”.

Following these insights, the delegation participated in a hands-on session to directly experience ScholAIstic, AICET’s AI-powered platform. A key highlight of this experience was that students were able to use both Korean and English simultaneously while interacting with the roleplay chatbot, which drew an enthusiastic response and high levels of engagement.
The session allowed students to observe how ScholAIstic is practically applied across various professional fields. In nursing, the chatbot is used to simulate patient interactions and complex case studies to build clinical intuition, while in Law, it streamlines legal research and document analysis. Additionally, the Centre for Teaching and Learning Technologies utilizes it to enhance pedagogical tools through AI-driven support.
As the visit concluded, Mr. Jonathan Chen emphasized that educators and learners should not be swept away by the allure of AI; the ultimate goal of education should continue to focus on building character and values in students, guiding them to lead good lives. AICET hopes that this visit provided the students of Sahmyook University with the critical insights necessary to become future leaders in their respective fields of study, capable of effectively and ethically commanding AI technology.
